Haftarah Stories

Every week and holiday a portion from the Torah is read followed by a reading called the "haftarah". Those who have had a Bar or Bat mitzvah often learn to read a haftarah but generally know very little about it. The readings come from the Books of Judges, Kings, and Prophets and are full of adventure and philosophy.

Researching ancient Jewish history, contemporary Jewish artists and historical photographs Laya created a painting for each haftarah of the year. This entertaining presentation introduces the stories of the haftarahs and the history of the readings using illustrations from throughout Jewish history. Sit back and be entertained by this great union of art and story.
